Early season dive at Ellerton Water Park, principally organised as training for our two newly pool qualified Ocean Diver trainees who were heading out in to open water for the first time. A number of other people came too to test our kit and shake down after a dry winter.
The two ocean divers Josh, and Robby were escorted/being trained by Jonathan and Nic. Melissa and Anthony went diving separately in order to try out their kit after a winter of storage.
The training took place on a beautiful sunny day. Dave W was the marshal on the jetty: I think he must have been given an overly comfortable chair to sit in, because during our first dives he fell asleep in the sun and dropped all of the log sheets into the water! We surfaced from the first dive to find the jetty covered in A4 sheets of paper, and Dave frantically trying to dry out all of the logs before the DO surfaced. 🙂
Robbie and Josh completed their first two open water dives really well. Both enjoyed being out in the open water, seeing the weed and fish that inhabit Ellerton. They were also lead on a wee trip to look at a car, a van and some metal sheeting – oh what fun! Hopefully the joys of Capernwray are next.
Everyone had a lovely day, made all the better for the wall to wall sunshine and a bacon sandwich. In fact it made for an enjoyable dive in what is often referred to as ‘the muddy puddle’.
