17th December 2012

For the final club night of 2012 the Tyneside 114 committee were determined to make it a little bit of a special event.
The evening kicked off at Dunston pool at 7:00pm with the reintroduction of Octopush (underwater hockey) to Tyneside 114.
Dave Robson had arranged for local Octopush enthusiasts, Mick and Steven Tiplady, Kevin Wetherall and Dave Wright to provide a trial session of the game to newer members of the club and a revitalisation for those who had played the game in their youth.
The game kicked off at a furious pace with the red puck being flicked hard across the bottom with great gusto.
At 8:00pm the game ended and the exhausted players pulled themselves out of the water, hearts and lungs pounding hard after a hard and energetic fought game!
In addition to the fast and furious octopush action in the shallow end of the pool, in the deep end some weighted hoops had been set up for other members to more sedately practice their buoyancy skills.
After the pool session we retired as usual to the Ravensworth Arms at Lamesley, for a well-earned drink and an entertaining presentation by Andy Hunt on the Club’s expedition to Uist earlier in the year.
Following this presentation further entertainment was provided by Brian Dinsley with a game of ‘head and Hips’ with prizes going to winning club members and raising a total of £79 towards the clubs funds.
